The Central Government has initiated the PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana to provide economic security to farmers and agricultural laborers in their old age. Under this scheme, a fixed amount is deposited every month, and upon completing 60 years, the accumulated amount is received as a pension monthly. The enrollment process for beneficiaries under this scheme has commenced. Farmers between the ages of 18 to 40 can apply to avail the benefits of this scheme. The number of farmers enrolled in this scheme has already surpassed the 24 lakh mark.
Annual Pension of Rs 36,000 for Farmers
To improve the lifestyle of farmer families, the Central Government launched the PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana on September 12, 2019. PM Kisan Maandhan is a contribution-based scheme where small and marginal farmers can deposit a monthly amount into the pension fund. This means that to avail the benefits of this scheme, farmers have to deposit a monthly installment, which will amount to Rs 3,000 upon reaching the age of 60. In other words, you will receive an annual pension of Rs 36,000.
Deposit Range for Rs 3,000 Pension: Rs 55 to Rs 200 Monthly
Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana, the Central Government provides a pension of Rs 3,000 per month to farmers. The investment amount varies according to the applicant’s age. Farmers between 18 to 40 years can apply for this scheme and deposit a monthly installment ranging from Rs 55 to Rs 200. It’s important to note that the amount deposited by the farmer is matched by the central government into their account. For example, if a farmer deposits Rs 200 monthly, including the central government’s share, Rs 400 is deposited into their account every month.
How to Apply for Maandhan Yojana
As per the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, farmers can apply to receive pension benefits through this scheme. This can be done by filling out an online form through Jan Seva Kendra. Alternatively, applications for PM Kisan can also be submitted through the designated nodal officer’s office.
Furthermore, farmers can directly register online to avail the benefits of the Maandhan Yojana. They need to visit the official website maandhan.in, register themselves, and complete the registration process using the OTP received on their mobile number. After this, they need to fill out the online form with necessary details and submit it.
